Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Teacher Training Initiative will be hosted online. The 5 workshops are available in a digital format on this website. Additionally, we will offer:

  • an online discussion on February 23, 2021, 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (registration period has ended).

Topic

Language and Cognition: Recent Research in Language Teaching

The German Linguistic Society's (DGfS) "Teacher Training Initiative" acts as a bridge builder between different areas of linguistics and pedagogical application. At DGfS's Annual Meeting in 2021, the Teacher Training Initiative will focus on recent insights from cognitive approaches to language learning and teaching. In particular, we will discuss the scope of recent findings in the psychological and experimental language sciences as they potentially connect to the development of new instructional methods in language pedagogy. Our workshops will present the latest psychological findings and ideas on reading, writing, and multilingualism, making the journey from cognitive science to final use in a language classroom. Some workshops are tailored towards primary schools while others relate to secondary schools.

Participation

Participation in this year's Teacher Training Initiative is free of charge and needs no prior registration. The workhops are available on this site.

Registration for participation in the online discussion on February 23, 2021 is no longer possible.
